TrueAbility’s Pursuit of Creating the Best Platform for Performance-based Assessment
Despite the appearance of seeming “old school”, resource intensive and logistically challenging, face-to-face meetings remain a critical component in the certification, assessment and training industry. Attending conferences is one of the most cost-effective and productive ways to:
- Connect with our peers in-person
- Receive instant feedback from our market about our tools
- Support the assessment industry
- Discuss the future of education and certification, and
- Have a little fun
Our team attended ICE Exchange for the first time this October. Hosted by the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE), ICE is “a professional membership association that provides education, networking, and other resources for organizations and individuals who work in and serve the credentialing industry.” Reading about industry trends is helpful, but having an organization dedicated to curating those who are driving innovation in the space is valuable, considering the countless hours of web trolling it takes to piece together a relevant perspective about the industry and its potential opportunities.
Having no context from previous years to compare, the conference this year was focused. There were common themes established in the keynote presentation by Anne Loehr. Specifically with how regulations impact certifications, and how to address the economic challenges of various certification solutions. These themes were echoed through the rest of the sessions lead by industry thought leaders. Some more applicable than others to us specifically, but most were helpful with our modeling of the imminent certification landscape.
ICE delivered visionary speakers and innovative exhibitors that are leading “trends in certification, test development and delivery, assessment-based certificate programs, and other information relevant to the credentialing community.” As a technology solution for current certification challenges, TrueAbility is continually investigating how newer technologies such as virtual reality / augmented reality, biometrics, robots, block-chain and even gamification can increase the value of a certification by increasing the validity and fidelity of our platform. Thought leadership events continue to be the catalyst in supporting new ideas and improvement.
For a business, complacency in our evolving industry leads to trouble in sustainability. TrueAbility continuously evaluate methods to increase construct and face validity. Whether it’s better to reduce latency, improve certification performance or even instruction copy and graphics for the end-user, TrueAbility has committed to continual improvement. We often ask ourselves, “how can we make performance-based assessments accessible for anyone, anywhere for the 21st-century workforce?”
